Sidney Crosby looks 'mumps-ish' in morning skate interview

Has the mumps struck the NHL's biggest and brightest star?

We likely would have been told if Sidney Crosby had the virus, which has hit multiple teams in various conferences. He missed Thursday's Penguins practice with an unspecified illness. He's in the worst goal scoring slump of his career.

And now this screen shot from Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette of Crosby's media scrum for Friday's morning skate in advance of Friday's game against Calgary.

Oof...

Remember, one of the mumps' symptoms is swelling of the salivary galnds. Here are a whole bunch of photos of people with the mumps.

Again, we probably would have been informed if Crosby's illness that kept him out of one practice was the mumps. This thing seems to keep players out way longer. Also, when it comes to videos, camera angles, lighting and such come into play.

Shelly Anderson of the Post-Gazette said that after the cameras were off, Crosby said if he had the mumps he wouldn't have been at the rink Friday

Also, the mumps aren't the only issue to make someone's cheek swell.

Still, what a picture, what a video ... yikes.
