Sabres-Hurricanes game postponed after blizzard hits Buffalo

The cold and snowy weather that has affected many in Canada and the U.S. this past week has forced the cancellation of an NHL game.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Buffalo Sabres announced that their game against the Carolina Hurricanes has been postponed "due to the hazardous weather conditions in the Buffalo area."

A make-up date has not been announced.

According to the Buffalo News, the National Weather Service was reporting zero visibility in the area after a blizzard hit town. The snowfall is expected to reach two feet. Wind chills could hit minus-30.

Interesting conditions for a Winter Classic, but too dangerous to ask 19,000-plus fans to brave the elements to come watch a hockey game for a few hours.
