The NHL offseason moves at such a frenzied pace that it’s sometimes difficult to take a step back and appreciate the legacies of the players moving from one franchise to another.
Their impact. Their history. The relationships they’ve forged with a fan base during their time with the team.
Sam Gagner is one such player. Yes, we know all about his legacy with the Edmonton Oilers – who among us will ever forget his 8-point night or that time his jaw got so jacked up it looked like he was hiding a gerbil in his cheek?
But what about the impact Gagner had on the Tampa Bay Lightning and their fans?
What about the bond they developed during his years, er, hours with the team before he was traded to Arizona on Sunday?
Try not to get too emotional as you watch this stirring tribute to Sam Gagner of the Tampa Bay Lightning:
Sniff … did it get a little dusty in here all of a sudden or is it just us?
Fare thee well, Sam Gagner. Bolts fans will never forget when you … um … that time you … er … that game when … hmmm … that you provided them with ample cap savings in Summer 2014.
We eagerly await the first GAGNER 89 Lightning Jersey Foul next fall.
