The Chicago Blackhawks are going back to black for their Solider Field game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 1.
Their Stadium Series jerseys, revealed on Friday, resemble the ones they wore from 1996-2007, only with different striping on the arms and with those white laces around the collar.
The other big difference is the logo, which has the same “chrome-treated” look as the other Stadium Series sweaters have. And while the results have been up and down on the new jerseys, that metallic look really works here.
Granted, having the best logo in professional sports does help.
The only question is whether the overall look works, and if it’s better than any alternative for the Blackhawks. While black jerseys are a scourge on the League for the most part, and while their Wrigley Jersey was better, this is going to look rather cool at chilly Soldier Field.
