Pass or Fail: AHL Rockford IceHogs’ Mexican fiesta Los IceHogs jerseys

On Friday, Nov. 16, the Rockford IceHogs — the AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks — will be holding a celebration. Dare we say, a fiesta.

It's sponsored by Corona. The first 2,500 fans get official "Los IceHogs" maracas to shake incessantly during every line rush. Dora The Explorer will be there to protect the puck from Swiper. But what would make this night super especial? Why, a garish minor-league hockey gimmick jersey, of course!

That is … colorful.

This incredible Los IceHogs sweater is one of the most delightfully ugly jerseys in minor-league hockey history, rivaling the Florida Everblades' holiday sweaters, the Bakersfield Condors' Michael Jackson tribute and the Gwinnett Gladiators Margaritaville jerseys.

It takes the usual stick-chomping logo and turns into a sinister bandito, complete with mustache (viva Movember!) and sombrero. Which, come to think of it, they should actually have ready in the penalty box so players can use them for quick two-minute siestas.

While our obvious first choice for a jersey design would have been chest hair and a bandolero of bullets, this brightly hued sweater is quite vivid in a sketchy Mexican restaurant décor kind of way.

We don't want to say the IceHogs look like South of the Border on skates, but the first 2,500 fans will also have a chance to buy fireworks from them.

And oh, the back of the sweater. Prepare thyself:

Little hats on the numbers! We'll never see dos or siete or veintisiete the same way again!

So there you have them: The Los IceHogs jerseys. Maybe it's your brand of tequila, and maybe it's not. So what say you?

Pass or Fail: The Rockford Los IceHogs Mexican fiesta jerseys.

Thanks to IceHogs and Blackhawks forward Brandon Pirri for modeling a jersey that rivals the Phoenix Coyotes' peyote dog as our favorite southwestern style sweater. Stick tap to the IceHogs for the images; head here for tickets to their Los IceHogs game against the Houston Aeros.

Now ... can the Blackhawks demote Patrick Kane for one night on some bogus injury rehab just so we can get one image of him as a Los IceHog?
