Olli Maatta's thyroid tumor indeed cancerous

The tumor on Olli Maatta's thyroid gland indeed came back as being tested positive for cancer per a tweet from Stephen J. Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazatte.  

That is the bad news. But the good news is that Maatta said they caught it early, and coach Mike Johnston believes the blueliner will be back earlier than the four-week window following the surgery. He is expected to make a full recovery and has been skating with the team recently.

That's a pretty remarkable situation for the young blueliner, who also played knowing he had the issue and keeping it mostly a secret.
