Old school WWF table-top hockey runs wild on you! (Puck Treasures)

Puck Treasures looks to find those hidden hockey treasures from the past and present, and gives them their proper remembrance. Seen an interesting piece of hockey apparel? Send us an email at puckdaddyblog@yahoo.com.

A few years ago, our friend Arda Ocal found pretty much the greatest table-top hockey game in the history of hockey and/or tables: The World Wrestling Federation Superstars Shootout Table Top Hockey Game.

Not only did the game feature old-school wrestling greats like Hulk Hogan, Randy “Macho Man” Savage and “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase (greatest heel gimmick ever?), it had the added kitsch of giving each wrestler a hockey stick based on his gimmick.

Jake Roberts is using a snake. Hacksaw Jim Duggan has a 2-by-4. Tugboat has a mop. Hogan has a needle filled with anabolic … I mean, a barbell.

Well, like many toys from the late 1980s/early 1990s, this one had a glorious fast-paced commercial that probably aired during “Duck Tales." Check out “Mean” Gene Okerlund cramming a whole lotta information into 15 seconds of air time. And it just hit YouTube today like a chair to the back of the head.

(What, you thought Vince was paying for the full 30 seconds?)

Man, what an awesome Puck Treasure. Although we’re pretty sure it would be easy to beat Earthquake with a deke considering his mobility back then.

And frankly, whoever had Mr. Perfect on their team was going to win anyway. Because he’s [shoots puck from opposite end of the ice with eyes closed] [cut to puck going in] “Perfect.”
