No. 1 Star: Henrik Zetterberg, Detroit Red Wings
The captain had a point on every Red Wings goal Friday night, as Detroit defeated St. Louis, 5-3. Zetterberg had a power-play goal and an even-strength goal in the first period; in the third, he assisted on goals by Jonathan Ericsson and Pavel Datsyuk – the game-winner on the power play – before completing his hat trick and a 5-point night on this wild empty netter. No. 2 Star: Dan Ellis, Carolina Hurricanes
The Canes’ backup goalie made 33 saves for his first shut out since Nov. 9, 2000, as Carolina blanked the Ottawa Senators, 1-0. He made a first-period Eric Staal goal stand up. Craig Anderson made 34 saves in defeat.
No. 3 Star: Roberto Luongo, Vancouver Canucks
Luongo made 27 saves and then was brilliant in the shootout, as the Canucks defeated the visiting Chicago Blackhawks, 2-1. Alex Edler and Patrick Kane had the goals. Corey Crawford made 21 saves in the loss.
Honorable Mention: The Tampa Bay Lightning lit up the Winnipeg Jets, 8-3. Cory Conacher had two goals and an assist; Steven Stamkos scored his fifth and had two assists. Vinny Lecavalier also had a goal and two helpers. All but five Bolts had points. … Braden Holtby made 29 saves, while Nicklas Backstrom had a goal and an assist to help the Washington Capitals to a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. … Jarmoir Jagr and Jamie Benn scored goals in the shootout to lead the Dallas Stars to a 3-2 win over the Phoenix Coyotes. Martin Hanzal scored twice for the Yotes; Antoine Roussel scored in his NHL debut and Brenden Dillon scored his first NHL goal. … Kyle Palmieri scored two goals while Bobby Ryan and Teemu Selanne had 3-point nights in the Anaheim Ducks’ 3-1 win over the Minnesota Wild.
