NHL Three Stars: Anderson shines in Sens’ comeback; Krug’s two-point night

Zack Smith finishes off Matt Niskanen with the stinky leg drop.

No. 1 Star: Craig Anderson, Ottawa Senators

Anderson stopped 49 of 50 as the Senators staged a stunning comeback over the Pittsburgh Penguins, tying the game with less than a minute to go and winning it, 2-1, in double overtime.

No. 2 Star: Torey Krug, Boston Bruins

Krug's second postseason game was even better than his first. He had a two-point night in the Bruins 5-2 win, scoring again and picking up an assist. His play on the goal, kicking the puck to his stick then whipping it past Henrik Lundqvist, showed some serious veteran savvy:

No. 3 Star: Colin Greening

Greening was the double overtime hero in Ottawa, banging home a loose puck on his backhand seven minutes into the second extra frame.

Honourable mention: Tuukka Rask made 35 saves and Patrice Bergeron had two assists in the Bruins' win... Daniel Alfredsson's game-tying goal was a pretty big deal. Lovely give-and-go, although I have to wonder how he managed to become so invisible to the Pittsburgh defenders.

Did You Know? Krug became the 4th Bruin to score in his first two playoff games after Cooney Weiland (1929), Don Gallinger (1943), and this Tyler Seguin kid that did it in 2011.

Conn Smythe Watch: 1. Evgeni Malkin, Pittsburgh Penguins; 2. David Krejci, Boston Bruins; 3. Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings; 4. Patrice Bergeron, Boston Bruins; 5. Corey Crawford, Chicago Blackhawks; 6. Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins; 7. Craig Anderson, Ottawa Senators. 8. Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers; 9. Henrik Zetterberg, Detroit Red Wings; 10. Drew Doughty, Los Angeles Kings.

Dishonourable mention: The fact that Daniel Alfredsson was so open on the game-tying goal is insane. Both Malkin and Letang just completely forgot there was ice behind them... John Tortorella, you can't say that on live television!
