NHL Three Stars: Quick blanks Blues; Seguin's last-minute winner

No. 1 Star: Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles Kings 

Quick had a Total Shutout of the St. Louis Blues with 43 saves and three more in the shootout, including one against TJ Oshie. He tied Rogie Vachon for the most shutouts in franchise history. Jeff Carter had the lone goal of the shootout.

No. 2 Star: Tyler Seguin, Dallas Stars

Seguin’s power-play goal with 2.9 seconds left in regulation, his fourth of the season, gave the Dallas Stars a 3-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Sidney Crosby, who scored his fourth earlier in the game, was in the box for tripping Jamie Benn.

 

No. 3 Star: Brendan Gallagher, Montreal Canadiens      

Gallagher had two goals and an assist in the Montreal Canadiens’ 6-4 win over the Boston Bruins. That included a key third period tally to give Montreal a 2-goal lead. P.A. Parenteau also had two goals.

Honorable Mention: Kyle Okposo had a goal and an assist while Jaroslav Halak made 20 saves and won a five-round shootout. The New York Islanders outlasted the San Jose Sharks, 4-3, despite a goal and an assist from Brent Burns. … The Washington Capitals had six different goal scorers, including Alex Ovechkin’s fifth, as they defeated the New Jersey Devils, 6-2. Braden Holtby made 26 saves. … Rick Nash does it again, scoring the lone goal in the shootout as the New York Rangers defeated the Carolina Hurricanes, 2-1. Henrik Lundqvist made 29 saves. … Impressive rally from the Ottawa Senators, as third-period goals by Bobby Ryan, Clarke MacArthur and Chris Neil powered them to a 5-3 win over goalie Calvin Pickard and the Colorado Avalanche.
