NHL Three Stars: Niemi blanks Predators; Crosby continues goal scoring ways

No. 1. Star: Antti Niemi, San Jose Sharks

San Jose’s netminder stopped 35 of 35 Nashville shots on goal in a 2-0 win. The Sharks now have 76 points in 68 games played, just three back of the Calgary Flames for the last playoff spot in the Pacific Division. 

No. 2 Star: Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins

The Pittsburgh captain scored a goal and added two assists for the Pens in their 6-4 vanquishing of the Edmonton Oilers. That’s now six points for Crosby in his last four games, including three goals.

No. 3 Star: Sergei Bobrovksy, Columbus Blue Jackets

Stopped 41 of 42 Detroit shots on goal in a 3-1 victory over the Red Wings. The Blue Jackets have the 25th best record in the NHL with 62 points. Bob hasn't been that stellar either this season with a 2.79 goals against average and .915 save percentage

Oshie and Vladimir Tarasenko in the breakaway contest … Florida’s Jonathan Huberdeau and Jaromir Jagr each notched two assists in a 4-2 win over Winnipeg … Columbus goaltender Sergei Bobrovksy stopped 41 of 42 Detroit shots on goal in a 3-1 Blue Jackets win … Columbus forward Scott Hartnell scored the game-winner … Ottawa’s Erik Karlsson scored two goals and added an assist in a 5-2 win over Montreal … Sens goaltender Andrew Hammond improved to 8-0-1 with 27 saves on 29 shots on goal.
