No. 1 Star: Brock Nelson, New York Islanders

Nelson wasted no time joining the NHL's scoring leaders with a four-point night during a 5-3 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. Nelson's second came on the power play and gave New York a 3-0 lead. His first was set up with some nifty passing:

No. 2 Star: Johnny Boychuk, New York Islanders

In his first game as an Islander, Boychuk scored a goal and assisted on two others. His goal came with the man advantage via a blast from the blue line:

No. 3 Star: John Tavares, New York Islanders

The Islanders' captain and Art Ross Trophy contender started off his campaign on the right foot with three helpers. It was his first game back after suffering an injury during the Sochi Olympics that ended his 2013-14 season.

Honorable Mention: Both power plays had successful nights, with the Isles going 2-for-3, and the Canes scoring twice on their five opportunities ... Jaroslav Halak stopped 21 shots in his Islanders debut ... Ryan Strome chipped in a pair of assists ... Mikhail Grabovski also had a goal in his debut with the team.

Did You Know? Johnny Boychuk's only other career power play goal also came at Carolina (Jan. 18, 2011).
