Matt Hendricks gives thumbs up after destroying Aaron Ekblad (Video)

Fox Sports Florida

Near the end of the second period, Florida Panthers defenseman Eric Gudbranson flattened Taylor Hall in the neutral zone. Naturally, the Edmonton Oilers did not take this lightly. Matt Hendricks and Alex Petrovic threw down just a few minutes later.

The anger resonated into the third period. Matt Hendricks found himself as the center of attention again, this time after delivering a nasty to Florida wunderkind Aaron Ekblad that left the kid dazed and confused.

As Hendricks skated away, he was chased down and cross-checked by Brian Campbell. When Hendricks looked behind him, he saw the closest Panther was Logan Shaw and the two dropped the gloves.

After it was all said and done, Florida coach Gerard Gallant was incensed because the only penalties on the board were the fighting majors. As for Hendricks, he went to the box and gave a thumbs up to the Edmonton faithful.

Take a look at all that transpired and make your own judgment. Was it a clean hit on the part of Hendricks or are we looking at supplemental discipline?

And what do you think happened to Ekblad? The kid was stumbling trying to get to his skates. He got off the ice and stayed off ... for about 10 minutes of game clock time. He returned to finish the game.

WAY TO GO CONCUSSION SPOTTERS!
