Jake Allen leaves St. Louis Blues win with injury (Video)

The injury bug returned for St. Louis Blues goaltender Jake Allen on Sunday.

Allen missed 17 games between Jan. 8 and Feb. 20 with a knee injury and appeared to have suffered another problem in the Blues’ 5-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche. The young netminder left the game after the first period.

It’s unclear as to when he suffered the issue, though by the end of the period he was in some sort of discomfort.

Last year, coach Ken Hitchcock picked Allen for the playoffs over veteran Brian Elliott. The Blues lost in the first-round of the postseason in six games against the Minnesota Wild. Allen finished the playoffs with a 2.20 goal-against average and .904 save percentage.

Allen had played 46 games with season and held a 2.36 goal-against average and .919 save percentage coming into Sunday's contest. Elliott is 21-7-6 with a 2.03 goal-against average and .931 save percentage.

Sportsnet recently broke down who the Blues should start in goal in the postseason, though an Allen injury could force Hitchcock to go with Elliott.

After the game Hitchcock said they'd know more Monday and Allen suffered a lower body injury.
