Gustav Nyquist continues hot streak with ridiculous individual effort for goal (Video)

There is no hotter player in the NHL at the moment than Gustav Nyquist of the Detroit Red Wings. He was named the no. 1 star last week and has put in an effort this week that will likely make him a back-to-back receipient of the award.

Having scored three goals in three games this week, Nyquist added to that total Sunday afternoon against the Tampa Bay Lightning. With the score knotted at one late in the opening period, he was sent in on a breakaway and somehow managed to not allow Matt Carle to knock the puck away:

There was already a delayed penalty (penalty shot?) coming to Carle, but how many other infractions did you count during that goal? Five? Six? Seven? And on top of that, Nyquist had the ability to stay with the puck and whip it past Ben Bishop from the bad angle behind the goal line.

The tally improved Nyquist's point streak to nine games, with 11 goals over that stretch. Fox Sports Detroit put up the stat that his 12 goals in the month of March is third best on the Red Wings since the 1987-88 season, one behind Sergei Fedorov and two behind Johan Franzen.

Pretty impressive, kid.
