When the KHL presents an Evgeny Artyukhin highlight, one expects a textbook freight-training of an opponent with an open ice hit. But this incident with Niklas Persson of CSKA falls into another category: Cheap shot city.
Watch Artyukhin, playing for Ilya Kovalchuk's SKA team in the KHL, land a vicious blow to Persson's head and bloodying him on Monday:
Artyukhin was given a 5-minute major for checking to the head and a 20-minute game misconduct. Alexander Kucheryavenko, he of the sneaky trip on Alex Radulov earlier in the sequence, was given a minor penalty.
SKA won the game, 4-2. Ilya Bryzgalov gave up all four goals. Hey, maybe he'll reconsider staying there.
