Ducks, Kings engage in first period line brawl (Video)

There’s never any love lost when the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings get together. So it came as no surprise that their Saturday matinee at Staples Center saw the two sides exchange pleasantries just minutes into the opening period.

After an icing call, Corey Perry bumped into Kyle Clifford along the boards, and following some pushing and shoving and hugging, things appeared to die down. But as Perry skated away from the scrum, he gave a shove to Luke Schenn, who responded with a push of his own. That didn’t sit too well with the newest Duck, Jamie McGinn, who then mixed it up with Schenn, setting off both lines.

All in all, four fighting majors, two 10-minute misconducts and two ejections (sorry, Kevin Bieksa and Andy Andreoff) were handed out. Here’s what the penalty summary looked like:

Seeing as how it didn’t take long for the Ducks and Kings to mix it up, wouldn’t this make for a beautiful second-round matchup?
