Truthfully, we probably didn't even need a video explanation of Corey Potter's suspension for boarding Nick Bonino of the Anaheim Ducks. I think we might have accepted a tweet from @NHLShanahan that featured little more than the above photo and the line, "Corey Potter has been suspended 2 games for this."
But the Department is nothing if not thorough. Potter is suspended two games for this, and here's Patrick Burke with the explanation.
Seems like an open and shut case.
"At a dangerous distance from the boards, Potter shoves Bonino," Burke explains, sending him crashing violently into the boards. This is boarding."
And there's really no wiggle room here. It's not like Potter had a chance at a clean check or Bonino turned. This was simply a shove at a time when Bonino was fully unshoveable.
"Potter must avoid this hit completely," Burke says. Yep. And because he didn't, he'll avoid two games completely instead.
