Capitals deserve Oscar buzz for 'A Christmas Story' performance (Video)
(Warning: Auto-play video)
Beginning the night of Christmas Eve, TBS will air their annual 24-hour marathon of “A Christmas Story,” the cult classic about a boy and his longing for an official Red Ryder carbine action 200-range-shot model air rifle.
In honor of the Christmas tradition the Washington Capitals did their part to spoof the film, featuring several players playing the lead role of Ralphie, including Alex Ovechkin, who drew the responsibility of wearing Aunt Clara’s pink bunny suit.
“He looks like a deranged Easter bunny.”
(Did he borrow the suit from Zdeno Chara?)
Michael Latta does a solid job as Flick, and given the fact that he was “scratched” for Monday’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, has anyone checked to see if he’s still stuck to that telephone pole?
Honorable mentions go to Rod Langway as Santa Claus, and Nate Schmidt, who really took his role seriously.

Sadly, Braden Holtby’s performance as Old Man Parker won’t win him any awards. Did the Capitals not have any flannel pajamas lying around?
