'Spacey on Ice': Kevin Spacey expected to attend Panthers game

Three months after the Florida Panthers began using a sweatshirt featuring actor Kevin Spacey’s disembodied head floating through space as a player of the game award, the team will finally get to meet the “House of Cards” star.

On Thursday night, Spacey Tweeted out a video of him packing a Panthers jersey with his name and the number 1738, a reference to rapper Fetty Wap’s song “Trap Queen.”

According to George Richards of the Miami Herald, Spacey is expected to be in attendance at Saturday’s home game at BB&T Center against the Detroit Red Wings. The team is remaining silent, but Richards reports the plan is for the man who played Verbal Kint to drop the ceremonial first puck before the game.

The video isn’t the first time Spacey has been seen with that Panthers jersey. During a game in early February, the team played a video of him pulling it off a rack on the jumbotron, which led to a huge pop in the arena.

Weeks later, while on NBC’s “Today Show” promoting “House of Cards,” Spacey was presented with a sweatshirt by the hosts.

“I’ve become their sort of good luck charm and I’m very pleased they’ve been doing incredibly well,” Spacey said. “I’m very excited for them. I'm glad they’re doing really well and hope they can continue to win."

The Panthers began selling the sweatshirts in their team store in January with proceeds benefiting the Kevin Spacey Foundation.
