Detroit Lions linebacker Bobby Carpenter was a groomsman in Tony Romo's wedding in May. He got his gift on Sunday afternoon.
The former Cowboys player intercepted a pass from his good friend and returned it for a Lions touchdown early in the third quarter, igniting a stunning 24-point comeback and helping the Lions improve to 4-0 for the first time since 1980.
Don't take Joe Buck's lack of excitement as a sign that this wasn't a game-changing play. The Lions got another pick-six for a touchdown on the next drive, this time courtesy of Chris Houston. Watch as Romo stands flat-footed in the pocket and short arms a pass to the outside of Laurent Robinson:
Chris Houston was not in Romo's wedding, in case you were wondering.
Carpenter played his first four seasons in Dallas and became one of Romo's best friends on the team. He and current Dallas tight end Jason Witten were the two NFL players who stood with Romo when he got married to Candice Crawford on Memorial Day weekend. Romo attended Carpenter's 2008 wedding with his then-girlfriend, Jessica Simpson.
