One Bush gets a shoe thrown at him and, a few years later, another Bush has his taken away.
Miami Dolphins running back Reggie Bush had his shoe ripped off by Brian Orakpo during a goal-line gang-tackle early in the team's victory on Sunday. The Washington Redskins linebacker came around the edge, ran behind Bush as the running back was stuffed by the defensive line and grabbed his leg to stop him from gaining any extra inches. He kept pulling and pulling and eventually came away with Reggie's shoe.
Be sure to notice Dolphins quarterback Matt Moore grabbing the cleat away from Orakpo after the play.
Ordinarily it wouldn't take such effort to bring down the light-footed Bush but, alas, these are the 3-6 Redskins, a team for which tackling comes as easily as scoring touchdowns.
Bush came back into the game on the next play and scored a touchdown. Later in the game, he'd lose his shoe again and go on to score a touchdown later in the drive. Shoeless Reggie Bush doesn't have quite the romantic ring of Shoeless Joe Jackson, but if he keeps seeing similar results after being stripped to his socks, it may be something to consider.
