The thing with building brick walls is that sometimes they fall. Hard.
Just ask San Diego Chargers punter Mike Scifres(notes), who attempted to stop a punt return of the San Francisco 49ers' Ted Ginn. Jr by digging in his feet, planting himself firmly and hoping that gravity would do the rest. It didn't work out quite like he'd hoped:
The end result makes sense: big, bad punt returner knocks over helpless, puny punter. The only problem is that Scifres is a pretty big dude, measuring in at 6-foot-2 and 221 pounds, while Ginn Jr. is listed at 5-foot-11, 180 pounds. With all that speed behind him, though, Ginn Jr. leveled him anyway. My memory of high school physics class is a little sketchy, but I'm pretty sure that "object in motion" thing proves something or other said by Nate Newton in the 1700s. Or was it Isaac?
