Heading into Thursday night's game, the Chargers knew they had to be creative when facing Shane Lechler. Oakland's punter leads the league in yards per punt, giving the Raiders a reliable weapon on special teams. To combat that, the Chargers were aggressive early, running a trick play on the very first punt.
They went back to the schoolyard for this one, and it worked. The lateral gave Marcus Gilchrist plenty of room to run and set San Diego up in Oakland territory. Unfortunately, the Chargers only got a field goal from the drive.
