Cincinnati announced the signing of Campbell after he passed a physical on Thursday. ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Campbell signed a one-year deal.
Campbell joins Josh Johnson, Greg McElroy, Zac Robinson and Dalton as quarterbacks on Cincinnati’s roster. Johnson was Dalton’s backup last season, but will face competition during training camp.
Dalton has not missed a game in three seasons. He has compiled 11,360 passing yards, 80 touchdowns and 49 interceptions. The Bengals are 30-18 with Dalton as a starter, but 0-3 during the playoffs.
Campbell is about to enter his 10th season. He has compiled 16,697 passing yards, 87 touchdowns and 60 interceptions. He also has completed 60.3 percent of his passes.
Last season, Brown appeared in nine games (eight starts) for the Cleveland Browns. He finished with 2,015 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions.
Campbell has been reunited with Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson, his head coach with the Oakland Raiders.
