Tampa radio station buys billboard that reads, ‘Fire Schiano’

How hot are things in Tampa heading into the Buccaneers' Thursday night game against the Carolina Panthers? (Besides the expected kickoff temperature of 70-72 degrees.)

A local radio station, 102.5 "The Bone," has rented a billboard in North Tampa that delivers a simple and clear message: "Fire Schiano."

My Fox Tampa Bay first posted the picture that seems to sum up a lot of folks' feelings as the winless Bucs aim to earn a "W" in tonight's primetime game.

It has been a nightmare season for the Buccaneers, almost from Jump Street, and though you can't blame the fluky things such as the MRSA outbreak on the coach, Schiano's football team has alienated and then traded away its starting quarterback and failed on just about every level possible on the field so far.

In addition, his coaching style apparently has grated many players, according to NFL Network's Michael Silver.

"How bad is it there? It's worse than you can imagine," one NFL player who spent 2012 with the Bucs told Silver. "It's like being in Cuba."

Now that's hot. We'll see if the radio station's wishes become a command that's carried out. It might not take much more to get to that point.
