Seattle Seahawks’ Russell Wilson will become one of the youngest quarterbacks to start in the Super Bowl.
Wilson might be the only quarterback to start under center with a hairdo that resembles and S-curl.
Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman has gained attention for talking a lot prior to Super Bowl XLVIII, but Wilson is known for his big hair. Wilson’s hair resembles the character Darryl Jenks, who wore an infamous Jheri curl in the movie Coming to America.
Wilson was asked about his hairdo on Tuesday, and there is actually a good reason why he has not been to the barbershop lately.
"People keep asking me about my hair, if that’s a factor in the game," Wilson said "Normally, I keep my hair pretty low, but I actually saw an 11th grade picture of my dad and I. When I was in 11th grade, I won a state championship, and I had my hair grown out. I didn’t cut my hair the whole year for that season, and my dad didn’t either. It kind of inspired me for this year. That’s kind of why I have the Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, S-curl right now."
Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch recently signed an endorsement deal with Skittles, and it is easy to picture Wilson in this commercial after the Super Bowl:
