Report says Auburn RB Tre Mason needs wrist surgery, but Mason disagrees

According to's Ian Rapoport, Auburn RB Tre Mason needs wrist srugery.

But according to Mason, he needs nothing. (Except someone to believe him maybe.)

Strong statement. And last we checked, hospitals do require written consent for elective surgeries. And yet this runs counter, Rapoport says, to what teams were told after Mason was in Indianapolis for a combine medical recheck.

The reason for the possible surgery, says Rapoport, is a bone that hasn't healed properly.

Mason is considered a possible second- or third-round pick. It's not clear if this would have a dramatic effect on his stock, if he indeed was in need of surgery. Mason was the SEC player of the year with 1,816 rushing yards and 23 rushing touchdowns and a thrilling three-game run against Alabama, Missouri in the SEC title game and Florida State in the national championship in which he totaled 663 rushing yards, including 304 and four TDs against Mizzou.

It will be interesting to see who is right in this one.
