I suspected that Detroit Lions tackle Ndamukong Suh might be fined for this hit on Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton, and while the league hasn't released official word yet, this tweet from Suh himself seems to provide all the relevant information.
Makes sense. His first fine for a hit on Jake Delhomme cost him $7,500. Then he got touched up for $15,000 for this hit on Jay Cutler. So at least the league didn't double it again. Maybe that's the special preseason rate.
I know a lot of you disagree with me, but I believe the fine is justified. And sure, maybe opposing quarterbacks are worried about Suh now, and maybe it's an advantage for him if he's in a quarterback's head. But there is a price to pay for what he's doing. This time, it was $20,000. Next time, it will be more, and if it keeps happening, it will be a suspension.
These are the new rules. You can't mess with a quarterback's head. You either adapt, or you get fined $20,000.
