Louisville QB and potential top NFL draft pick Teddy Bridgewater reportedly has decided to go to NFL

Even though there were rumors the past few weeks that Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater might stay in school another year, it's no surprise at all that he has decided to go to the NFL.

ESPN.com's Brett McMurphy reported that Bridgewater will declare for the NFL draft. And with that, the Houston Texans can start to figure out where he belongs on their draft board.

Houston has the No. 1 pick and needs a quarterback. Bridgewater has been projected as the No. 1 pick by almost every mock draft, although that could change. Quarterbacks like Central Florida's Blake Bortles (or ... Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel? That won't happen, but man it would be fun) could end up moving ahead of Bridgewater once NFL teams really start breaking down film and workouts.

But no matter where Bridgewater goes in the draft, he won't be waiting around long. It's hard to see him slipping out of the top five if he doesn't go first overall.

Bridgewater has good size at 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, and can operate well out of the pocket. He threw for 3,970 yards, 39 touchdowns and four interceptions this past season for the Cardinals.

Every team picking in the top five of the draft (Houston, St. Louis, Jacksonville, Cleveland and Oakland) could draft a quarterback. That's why Bridgewater's decision isn't very shocking. He'll likely go in the top five. The only question he needs to answer over the next four months is if he deserves to be No. 1 overall.

Here's the updated projected Top 5 of Shutdown Corner's Eric Edholm:

1. Houston Texans: QB Teddy Bridgewater, Louisville
2. St. Louis Rams: QB Derek Carr, Fresno State
3. Jacksonville Jaguars: QB Blake Bortles, Central Florida
4. Cleveland Browns: QB Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M
5. Oakland Raiders: DE Jadeveon Clowney, South Carolina
