Julio Jones officially done for year after second opinion confirms fractured foot, report says

The Atlanta Falcons are 1-4, and appear sunk with word that a second opinion confirmed a fractured foot for Julio Jones.

Atlanta's star receiver injured his foot Monday night against the Jets. Chris Mortensen of ESPN reported that the second opinion of the injury confirmed the worst.

Receiver Roddy White is dealing with a hamstring injury, Steven Jackson has been missing the past few weeks with a hamstring injury, and the Falcons are four games behind the Saints in the NFC South. Without Jones, it's hard to figure out who quarterback Matt Ryan has left to throw the ball to.

Last year the Falcons started 11-1, got the No. 1 seed in the NFC and came 10 yards away from making the Super Bowl. Now, barring an incredible turnaround without one of the best receivers in the NFL, the Falcons aren't going back to the playoffs this season. The Falcons' hope now is that Jones, who had a similar injury at the 2011 combine, has a full recovery and this doesn't become a chronic issue for one of the brightest stars in the NFL.
