Greg Jennings headlines the Packers, Giants inactive lists

Shutdown Corner

The Green Bay Packers will not have wide receiver Greg Jennings for Sunday night's game against the New York Giants. The veteran receiver is inactive due to a groin injury that will officially cost him half the season, as this is the eighth game overall, and seventh in a row, that Jennings will miss.

Jennings is in the final year of his contract, so the continued absences could hurt his ability to secure a big contract as a free agent in 2013. Currently, Jennings' absences have cost him $200,000 in "per game active" roster bonuses along with a $25,000 incentive for being active in 12 games this season.

For the Giants, second-year defensive tackle Marvin Austin is a somewhat surprising inactive considering the club lost rookie defensive lineman Markus Kuhn to an injury before their bye week. Austin was a 2011 second round pick out of North Carolina who missed his rookie season with a pectoral injury and has four tackles in six games in 2012.
