Jay-Z did not have any problems making Kanye West into an international star.

He faces a bigger challenge with New York Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks.

Jay-Z's sports agency, Roc Nation Sports, officially added Nicks to their roster this week. According to, Roc Nation Sports spokesman Ron Berkowitz said Nicks will be jointly represented by CAA and Roc Nation. Nicks is slated to become a free agent next month, and is going in a different direction to obtain a lucrative contract.

Roc Nation Sports’ other NFL clients include Giants receiver Victor Cruz, Jets quarterback Geno Smith and Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

Nicks did not have one touchdown pass during 15 games in 2013. He finished with 896 receiving yards, and had less than five receptions in 11 games. If Nicks is re-signed by New York, it would likely be a short-term deal without many guarantees.

Nevertheless, Nicks’ value could increase if he redeems himself with a strong performance in 2014.
