No matter where Eric Ebron gets selected in the NFL draft on Thursday night (and let's be honest, he won't be waiting long), he's already had a winning day.
Ebron, the North Carolina tight end who is the near unanimous pick as the best prospect at his position in this draft, proposed to his girlfriend and Tar Heels basketball player Brittany Rountree at the top of the Empire State Building in New York according to Fox Sports 1. Ebron is one of the prospects who was invited to Radio City Music Hall for the draft.
Ebron proposed to his girlfriend of 2 years a few minutes ago. "A ball of nerves," he said. Bought the ring a week ago. "What better way?"— P. Schrager (@PSchrags) May 8, 2014
No, not many better ways than that. Impressive stuff from one of the draft's most personable characters. Here's a photo from Gillette deodorant of the scene:
Even though it's pretty cool, rivalries run deep, and the video team at Wolfpack Sports TV who appear to be connected N.C. State were wholly unimpressed.
UNC TE Eric Ebron proposed to his girlfriend atop the Empire State Building today. What an incredibly unoriginal and boring proposal.— Wolfpack Sports TV (@WolfpackSports) May 8, 2014
Well then. But for those who don't hate UNC, it was a pretty neat story. It's not often this is the case, but Ebron being drafted into the NFL will be only the second biggest life-changing event of his day. Congratulations to them both.
