But don't get too flattered, Peyton. This is the same fan base that desperately wanted Kyle Orton seven months ago.
The billboard pictured above was recently erected on Miami's I-595. It was put up by a group of fans and sponsors who would rather see Peyton Manning playing for the Dolphins than Matt Moore, Chad Henne, J.P. Losman, Tyler Thigpen, John Beck, Cleo Lemon, Joey Harrington, Gus Frerotte or any of the other ineffective QBs who have rolled through Sun Life Stadium since Dan Marino retired.
It's a catchy billboard, albeit one that will probably run afoul of the NFL's copyright rules. Though I'm no Matlock, even though we share an affinity for older women and hanging out with Clarence Gilyard Jr., I can't imagine putting up a 25-foot tall Photoshopped image of Manning in a Dolphins jersey is kosher.
The organization's website is impressive. There's a mission statement, a petition, a list of sponsors and a store to buy your official "Manning to Miami" T-shirts. This isn't some frivolous pursuit put together haphazardly. It's a frivolous pursuit put together with great care and attention to detail.
