Bears receiver Brandon Marshall announced contract extension on The View

All of a sudden, Twitter started blowing up with mentions about Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall announcing a new contract on, of all things, ABC's "The View."

Yes, as in Barbara, Whoopie, Jenny and Co.

Apparently, there's a new way to announce a contract extension. Richard Sherman did it on his website first. Marshall did it while gabbing with the ladies on TV. (The Chicago Bears later confirmed the extension.) What a world we live in.

The last part is significant. Marshall has talked openly about dealing with his own struggles with borderline personality disorder, and he appears to have turned his life around after some dark times in college and in his first two stops in the NFL with the Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins.

The Chicago Bears clearly are comfortable with Marshall on their team with the new extension, and he has endeared himself to his fellow teammates and to fans in the city. His contract was set to expire after the 2014 season.
