This Mother's Day, I felt pretty good about myself - got my mom a very nice card, planning to make her dinner, and got her a book I knew she'd love. That was all well and good until I saw what San Francisco 49ers safety Dashon Goldson(notes) picked up for his mom on this special day. Per Goldson's Twitter account, here's the damage:
Now, THAT's how you give in style. The gift is especially impressive when you consider that Goldson, who amassed 95 tackles, three sacks, and four interceptions in 2009, is in the final year of a 2007 rookie contract that pays him a base salary of $550,000 in 2010. Depending on how tricked out that Benz is, Goldson was looking at a $50,000 price tag, minimum. No surprise that Goldson, who signed up with Drew Rosenhaus in January, is looking for a lucrative extension. If his 2009 play is any indication, he's earned it. And at this point, he could probably use the money; his checking account just got lighter for a very good cause.
In another tweet today, Goldson had this to add:
Special Happy Mothers Day goes to my MOM. I Love You wit everything I got. It sucks I can't afford the world cuz if I cud it wud definitely be urs.
I don't know - it looks to me that he's giving his mom more of the world than most. Good on you, Dashon Goldson, and Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there!
