You wanted the Cowboys to get Johnny Manziel. We wanted the Cowboys to get Johnny Manziel. Yes, we know that Dallas doesn't really need a quarterback, having sunk nine figures into Tony Romo and all, but you know it would've been amazing.
Alas, they left that Texas A&M QB on the shelf. But they did remain in-state, picking up West Texas A&M quarterback Dustin Vaughan as an undrafted free agent. While at WTAMU, Vaughan set career records for completions, attempts, passing yards, and touchdowns, so you know he's got a bit of game.
"The phone call was unbelievable, it was kind of surreal at that moment," Vaughan told KRIS. "I actually got the call from Wade Wilson, who is the quarterbacks coach for the Cowboys, then he passed the phone off to Steven Jones, then he passed the phone to Jerry Jones, then I got to talk to Jason Garrett after that. They all expressed their interest in me joining the organization and so it was just a surreal moment and a great experience."
But forget his life-changing phone calls and on-field exploits. Vaughan needs your love because he made an amazing recruitment video last year. You've got to watch it on YouTube, but it's well worth it. Vaughan gets to take his luscious game to Dallas starting with OTAs on May 27. He's one of five quarterbacks currently on the Dallas roster.
