Do not be surprised if you see members of the Chicago Bears practicing their “wax on, wax off” techniques prior to games this season.
The Bears have hired Joe Kim, a distinguished martial arts coach, to help players with their hand technique, according to the Chicago Tribune.
He will reportedly work with all positions, “teaching how to better use hands in blocking and escaping blocks.”
We can only hope Kim looks like this:
According to the Chicago Tribune, the Bears will be the ninth team since 1992 to use Kim's Taekwondo expertise. Kim worked with the Kansas City Chiefs from 2010 to 2012, the Dallas Cowboys (1998), Cleveland Browns (1999 to 2000), Miami Dolphins (2001 to 2006), Green Bay Packers (2005), Denver Broncos (2007), Buffalo Bills (2009), and New York Giants (2010).
Can you imagine the Bears playing Joe Esposito’s “You’re the best around” during practice and prior to games? The majority of us can.
If the Bears do not make the playoffs, at least they can win a martial arts competition.
