Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Mike Glennon probably wants to be compared to the NFL’s top quarterbacks, like Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning.
For now, Garo Yepremian is a better comparison.
Glennon dropped back to attempt a pass in the second quarter as his team faced third-and-4 on Carolina’s 4-yard line. The quarterback attempted a pass, but the ball slipped out of his hands. It was officially ruled a sack and fumble, but the Panthers had nothing to do with it. Glennon just dropped the ball as he went to pass.
Yepremain is known for his failed pass attempt in Super Bowl VII for the Dolphins. His field goal attempt was blocked, and as Yepremian picked up the ball and attempted a pass, it slipped out of his hands. The gaffe was intercepted and returned by the Redskins for a touchdown.
That's what happens when a kicker decides to pick up the ball and try to throw it. You don't see it happen very often to a starting NFL quarterback. It's a play Glennon would like to forget.
