Dareus, the third pick of the 2011 draft, got hit with seven more charges last week after an alleged car racing incident. The Buffalo News said Dareus faces three misdemeanor charges and four traffic and vehicle charges. According to the Buffalo News' sources, Dareus left the scene after a car race that resulted in property damage. One of the charges is reckless endangerment, a Class A misdemeanor that could result in one year in jail, the Buffalo News said. The other two misdemeanors are for reckless driving and participating in an illegal speed contest.
Dareus was arrested on Friday. That's two days after he told the media he wasn't the type of player who gets into trouble off the field, even though he was arrested on May 5 in Alabama and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Tuscaloosa News.
“They know that I’m not a trouble guy," Dareus said last Wednesday, according to the Buffalo News. "They know I’m not the type of person that’s trying to look for any trouble. I’m not trying to do anything. Things happen and we’re moving forward and they know I’m going to grow into the guy they want me to be.”
Two days later, Dareus was arrested on seven more charges. Dareus was probably already on the Bills' nerves, considering in each of the last two games last season, he was benched for reportedly showing up late to meetings.
The Bills may "know that I'm not a trouble guy," but Dareus gives them plenty of reasons to believe that, in fact, he might be a "trouble guy." Dareus is tremendously talented, which means the Bills have to just be patient and hope this is the last time they have to deal with an off-field issue with one of their key players.
