Bill Belichick seems to be in a good mood these days, and why not?
He's coming off another very good season, even if his Patriots did lose to Denver in the AFC championship game. His team also landed cornerback Darrelle Revis, the best player to change teams in free agency.
So when he met with the media at the NFL owners meetings on Tuesday morning, he had some jokes lined up. When asked about being the only coach not to show up for the group photo of NFL coaches, he was ready.
“I missed it. Maybe they can Photoshop me in there,” he said, according to the Boston Globe.
That sent the Internet off to fulfill his request, and Kissing Suzy Kolber came through with the best one:
Belichick wasn't done. The Globe said he was asked about the cost of extra cameras to help instant replay reviews, something he is pushing for.
“Maybe we could have a bake sale, raise some money for the cameras. We could do a car wash,” he joked, according to the Globe. “We just spent however many million dollars on the replay system. I mean, there’s a thousand cameras in every stadium, so if somebody spills a beer on somebody we have it on record, right?”
There are some unused jokes about Belichick wanting more cameras in the stadium, but we'll pass for now.
Belichick didn't offer up much about his team though, according to the Globe. He was asked about Revis and said only, "I think he’ll help our team," and completely blew off a question about defensive tackle Vince Wilfork wanting to be released, so we know he's the same old Wild Bill.
The most Belichick moment came when someone asked if he had a timetable for tight end Rob Gronkowski's return. Gronkowski suffered a torn ACL and MCL last December.
“Did you seriously ask me that question?” Belichick replied.
Don't ever change, Bill.
