Bengals tie the game on the final play of regulation with a Hail Mary TD to A.J. Green

The Bengals have been a hard-luck franchise for about forever, but they got a heck of a lucky bounce on Sunday.

The Bengals trailed Baltimore 17-10 on the final play of regulation and had to throw a Hail Mary. Those plays rarely work unless you get a bounce or a defender screws up, and in the Bengals' case both happened.

Andy Dalton's pass reached the cluster of Bengals and Ravens players and caromed back into the end zone. Ravens safety James Ihedigbo reached up instinctively, and managed to bat the ball up into the air. A.J. Green camped under it and had one ofthe easiest and weirdest Hail Mary touchdowns you'll see. It was 51-yard touchdown. The extra point tied the game 17-17 and it went to overtime.

Ihedigbo had two interceptions in regulation and it's hard to blame him for a split-second reaction, but he looked like the goat on the play. Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith yelled for a long time at Ihedigbo on the sideline before overtime. Ihedigbo helped to make up for it in overtime by hitting Bengals running back Giovani Bernard behind the line on a fourth and 2 swing pass to tun the Bengals over on downs.

The Hail Mary play rarely works, but the Bengals had some good fortune on their side for this one.
