Wisconsin unveils new red helmets and the players are unimpressed (Photo)

Wisconsin coach Gary Andersen has done his best to try to put his stamp on the Wisconsin program as he heads into his first season as head coach.

His latest move is to pay homage to past teams while giving his 2013 Badgers their own fashionable identity.

Wisconsin will sport red helmets against Tennessee Tech on Sept. 7, the first time the Badgers have worn red helmets as part of their regular uniforms since the late 1960s. Those helmets had Bucky the Badger on the side. Last year, Wisconsin did an alternate uniform that included a red helmet for its game against Nebraska.

You’d think with news like that, Wisconsin players would be ecstatic about their new duds.

Well, not exactly.

In the team’s “The Camp” web series, Andersen introduced the helmet and not one of the players even cracked a smile. C’mon guys! Andersen even gave a whole speech about these helmets continuing the rich tradition of the program and honoring past players and Zzzzzzz.

Seriously, the Ohio Bobcats are really disappointed in Wisconsin’s effort right now. Andersen said the team could wear the helmets more than once this season, which, I think, got one player to shift in his seat.

Andersen even asked his players whether they liked the helmets and he got an unenthusiastic groan.

Well, we like them and we think the fans will like them. Really, that's all that matters.
