USC is looking for a fresh start following a bye week and the firing of coach Lane Kiffin, but it might have to do it without star receiver Marqise Lee.
Lee suffered a sprained knee in the 62-41 loss to Arizona State two weeks ago and interim head coach Ed Orgeron told media this week Lee was “very questionable” for the upcoming game against Arizona.
Last week, Lee told reporters he was “getting better daily” and was hopeful to play.
"Marqise Lee has made some miraculous recoveries," Orgeron said last week. "We're going to work hard to get him ready for next week. We don't know if he will be or not."
Apparently, his projection was a little optimistic.
But there is good news. USC will have running back Silas Redd in the backfield for the first time this season. Redd, who led the Trojans running backs with 905 yards last season, has missed time because of a knee injury in the spring that required two surgeries.
