Tyler Wilson not cleared and won’t play, according to report

Some more air was let out of this weekend's marquee game, even if the bad news on Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson was not a surprise.

Bo Mattingly, a sports talk show host in Arkansas, reports that Wilson hasn't been cleared and won't play against Alabama on Saturday. Wilson suffered a head injury last week against Louisiana-Monroe and had to be hospitalized. Even the most optimistic person couldn't have figured Wilson would be ready to play this week. Well, maybe one person did.

Officially, Arkansas said there would be no further update on Wilson and he'll be a game-time decision.

Assuming Wilson is out, Arkansas will start redshirt freshman Brandon Allen or junior Brandon Mitchell against a Crimson Tide defense that already punished Michigan's Denard Robinson this season. Mitchell had moved to receiver this season, but Allen struggled after Wilson was knocked out of the loss to Louisiana-Monroe so Mitchell has been practicing at quarterback this week and is in the mix for the starting nod.

Whoever gets the nod, it will be a very tough spot. Alabama is going to put as much pressure as possible on the fill-in Razorbacks quarterback. That's a daunting thought for any quarterback.
