Nippert Stadium at the University of Cincinnati will be closed in 2014 while it undergoes some significant renovations for the future.
While the Bearcats will play in the Bengals’ Paul Brown Stadium next year, a video released by the school’s athletic department offers detailed projections of the various upgrades around the stadium, which have to be exciting for the Cincy players and fans.
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, the stadium is on schedule to re-open its doors for the 2015 season. Among the additions are new premium seating, suites, and club seats on the west side of the stadium and University architect Beth McGrew said there will be “more than double the current amount” of both restrooms and concession stands.
The project was announced in June 2013 and athletic director Mike Bohn told the Enquirer that the school has “generated approximately $41 million in gifts and suites sold,” while the additional money will “come from additional fundraising initiatives.”
As of now, the Bearcats are scheduled to face Alabama A&M when the stadium re-opens on Sept. 5, 2015, but Bohn admitted that the school is seeking a more high-profile opponent for that game.
