The all-gray ensemble with special helmets will be in support of the Lone Survivor Foundation which was formed after Marcus Luttrell's 2007 book "Lone Survivor." The book details Operation Redwing in Afghanistan, where 19 members of Navy SEAL Team 10 died.
"19" is on the helmet and a jersey patch on the uniform and the helmet features wings similar to the wings on the Lone Survivor Foundation's logo. The jerseys will also be auctioned off after the game and the proceeds will go to the LSF.
It's a great gesture for Texas Tech, who have done military appreciation jerseys before, and the helmets are really cool. But we're lukewarm on the aesthetics of the jerseys. We've reached a gray saturation point in college football.
