Steve Spurrier rarely misses an opportunity to take a jab at in-state rival Clemson, so when he grabbed the mic following the Gamecocks 34-24 win against Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl, his victory speech was, of course, pointed at the Tigers.
“These two Capital One Bowls in a row are pretty nice,” Spurrier said. “But that state championship ain't bad either.”
South Carolina defeated Clemson 31-17 on Nov. 30, but I’d say Clemson still got the last laugh. Despite the loss, the Tigers are still playing in the Orange Bowl against Ohio State on Friday.
