There was some cause for concern for Ohio State fans on Monday morning when Candice Lee, the mother of Buckeyes’ freshman linebacker Darron Lee, tweeted that many Buckeye players were suffering from food poisoning.
With starting defensive lineman Noah Spence not making the trip and the status of Bradley Roby and Curtis Grant in question, it appeared like more bad luck for a Buckeye team that is preparing to take on Clemson in the Orange Bowl. The health of the players in question was addressed later in the day by OSU Sports Information Director Jerry Emig, who said that it’s just a “fly bug” affecting some players.
Food poisoning is not the issue with the Ohio State team. A flu bug has hit some admin staffers and some players but no starters involved. — Jerry Emig (@BuckeyeNotes) December 30, 2013
The Buckeyes face a tough task against Clemson’s high-powered offense and they still have a few days to get healthy before Friday’s game.
